Taking out travel insurance could save £25,000

In this day and time with gasoline and the cost of living going sky high we have to try and save money where we can, and if that means buying the cheapest travel insurance then so be it.
Holidaymakers who are contemplating travelling to the USA without travel insurance, could have to fork out as much £25,000 if they suffer a broken leg, according to the website gotravelinsurance.

The Independent newspaper also states that holidaymakers who may require intensive care treatment could be forced to pay up to £5,000 for an extra two days in the country in which they require the treatment.

Therefore it seems quite clear that the small cost of travel insurance could save a lot of money and hassle on a holiday, but despite these facts, a study carried out by research firm Defaqto, has found thousands of Brits trip aboard every year without travel insurance.

The study found that one in seven Brits decide against the added cost of travel insurance, with the average cost of two days in a Mediterranean hospital potentially valued at an extra £1,600.

Travellers that want a cheaper break but do the sensible thing and take out travel insurance have been told by moneysupermarket.com that buying a standalone insurance policy can work out to be three times cheaper than buying one included with a holiday.
